Big Band Science Experiment's book on the Material World, The Science of Matter is more of a book for hands-on learners. The essence of this book is for students who want to experience science through experiments. There are about ten experiments for the students to enjoy such as "Cave of Wonders, Candy Volcano, Bubble Bomb, Crystal Shapes, and Rainbow Cabbage." The extra fun part about this science book is that they use everyday objects that often people or families have. Therefore this book is very accessible to students who want to take part. However, if students don't have access to the materials, you are able to see the end result in the book therefore people don't miss out as much. As far as use for this in the classroom, I think that it would be more for a class to read one of the experiments and then do that in the classroom!… (més)

This book would be a great resource for me to use as a teacher because it shows lots of different experiments that I could do with students using everyday household items which do not cost a lot of money or require a lot of preparation. All the experiments shown in this book are centered around the science of living things so scaffolding these experiments together gives students to explore a variety of aspects of things that are living which is a way to implement exploration learning, rather than just telling studnets what is and is not alive. I probably would not share this book with my students but just use it as a teacher resource.… (més)
