Starting to review the book I have to say the book cover is rather featureless and too distant- plain for describing the story which is full of suspense and I, as a reader could not guess what the next chapter will be about. So, in my opinion, this cover is very misleading and needs brighter - vivid cover.
The story is about the girl who has born being different and realizing shes an outcast within the society shes living, beside realising her parent doesn't want to have her the same very reason. From the very beginning she learns that when she's angry and shouts - it might dangerously involve other people destiny. As her parents make it clear, they don't want her and she's sent to live with her grandmother. Life goes on and Maria is about to find that her "gift" runs in the family and her grandmother used to have one as well, but she chose to block it out. How difficult it wouldn't be, there appears unpredictable situations that leads Maria to decide to leave the "nest" and run away. From there on, shes growing up, socialising and finding her people around her.
The book is full of action, reading from cover to cover, and kept me awake till 5am when I was finished reading.
I give the book four stars as in my opinion, the story did not explain the fact how her imaginary friend in that theory that if it was the evil character - did not harm her all her life and kept her safe. In one of the episodes I am about to learn the fact its Arrow, as her friend recognises the soul around her - but then - this is never actually explained to Maria, nobody stresses it out. If it is really meant to be the evil one - how does it come that he never hurt her and protected her from anything in all the other locations she has lived, and become violent in Asheville? Why the character was against her move to Asheville if that's the place where his power enlarge? How come that the only safe place was to be in Cherokee, not all the other places she lived before. It felt more as maybe Emma's husband is the one who's keeping the spirit in the house and sho is about to kill her and friend, having nothing common with the monster imaginary friend.… (més)
