Ian Hope

This book was written by a Canadian infantry battle group commander about his experiences in Afghanistan in 2006. It is good on two levels. First, it is about soldiers at war, and it gives a good feel for the humanistic approach to war taken by the Canadian Army. Not the Canadian Forces, or Canada, or NATO, but the Canadian Army. Second, it is a good treatise on tactics to be used in a war where fighting is not desirable and killing the enemy is defeat as much as victory.
