This book has fantastic photographs by an artist who was quite famous in his day, but had faded into obscurity; Alfred Cheney Johnston. Johnston's portraits of the Zeigfield Girls, famous, infamous and everything in between, are beautifully composed, luminous and sensual. Pearls are omnipresent, as well as glass globes and mirrors. The book gives me a very Deco feeling personally. There are pictures of Louise Brooks as well as other famous stars and starlets. A nice commentary with an introduction by Julie Newmar. Very good for artistic inspiration as well as an aesthetic window into the past.… (més)
