This book reminded me of a "super hero" book for young kids, aside from the Marvel comics type things. It also reminded me of something you'd see for a children's TV show, based off the illustrations and story line.
This second book of the Bumperboy graphic novel series focuses on Bumperboys and Bumperdogs trip to a new type of world through a bumperhole that leads to a very loud talking mountain. The mountain, Jumba, is very lonely because the town that used to be at the base of him is no longer there because the village people thought the reason some of their members were going deaf was because of how loud he spoke. Jumba likes to talk. Bumperdog finds some marshmellow like creatures behind Jumba and soon Bumperboy and Bumperdog go on a search to find out more information about these creatures, and Jumba the mountain. They find out that the creatures are Grums, and they take care of the Grum trees which keep the mountains alive. Only one tree remains which resides on the back of Jumba which is why he's the only mountain there that is alive and talking. There's only 5 Grums alive there and it takes 5 for just one tree to stay alive. Bumperboy and Bumperdog go after a guy who takes a Grum and find out he's using the Grums to keep alive the Grum trees and produce the Grum fruit for his super sugary cola drink. At the end of the book with a plan put together Bumperboy and Bumperdog get all the Grums from the cola factory back to the mountain and they plant and keep alive a bunch more Grum trees which results in the other 5 mountains coming back to life, giving Jumba more people to talk to so he isn't lonely.… (més)
