Black River follows former prison guard Wes Carver as he returns to his Montana hometown in the wake of his wife’s death from cancer. There he must come to terms with the prison riot twenty years ago that changed his life forever. “A stark, tender tale about one mans quest for faith and forgiveness,” says Kirkus Review. Black River has earned starred reviews from Booklist, Library Journal, Kirkus, and Publishers Weekly, as well as praise from Jess Walter, Wiley Cash, and Daniel Woodrell.
