Ty Allan Jackson

Recently I met Ty Allan Jackson at the Baltimore Book Festival. He did a picture walk and summary of this book and I knew I just had to read it. I love the book and am glad I got to buy a signed edition for my collection.

The main idea of the story is the joys of a child's imagination. The way the book is illustrated is big and colorful, btu the best part are the colored bolded words. These can easily be vocabulary words, and tie in with the theme of each romp in her imagination. Space includes words like "moonbeam" and "Saturn", while underwater and jungle situations name the animals she plays with.
The rhyme scheme of the book and repeted lines are also great as it shows predicability and patterns. Each journey into the imagination starts and ends the same, even though the content differs.… (més)
