- Biografia breu
- Appointed first Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Dunedin, NZ, but was blocked from taking up appointment by political maneuvering on the part of those opposed to his "ritualist" sympathies. Despite the support of many bishops, priests and lay-people in both Britain and New Zealand he eventually resigned his claim to the See (diocese) and returned to his post as Vicar of Preston, where he lived until his death. He was a minor hymn-writer, best known for the hymn "We Love the Place, O God," until recent decades traditionally sung at induction/commissioning services for parish clergy. He was an accomplished musician and amateur botanist.
