I was so blown away by this book. One of the better fantasies I've read. Full review to come soon.

The Kingdom Of Sweets is a captivatingly written tale of two noble sisters---twins light and dark---a wizard, and the Sugar Plum Fairy. There are sections of the book, especially those taking place in the decaying and diminishing Kingdom Of Sweets, that are evocatively weird, hauntingly otherworldly. The tale of the sisters is one of jealousy, hatred, vengeance, and a bit of redemption. The Sugar Plum Fairy herself is a disturbing entity, thoroughly Fae, thoroughly Other. There's a bit of social commentary in here too, and real-world history, which slotted together very nicely with the fantastical, leading to a very gratifying read.… (més)

This is a most excellent trilogy. Having devoured it, I will now be buying it.
Fantastic world building, such compelling characters that stay with you long after you've finished reading. Well-written and solid plotting (of both kinds!).

Kelsea is a true hero.

However, I would not suggest this is a YA book. There is gore, violence, and brutality (and plenty of swearing). Some tough stuff to read through but never gratuitous.
