Tess has taken her high school students on a field trip to England for an in depth view of Shakespeare, but one problem student is causing trouble not only for her, but for the rest of the students. Tess's soft spot for the young boy's troubles lead her to begin adoption proceedings to provide him with e better life.

Rance is wary of the henge on his new property, a dismal gift from the king of England. Highly superstitious, he tries to avoid the "white witches's pit," unsuccessfully. It transports him to the future, where he must find his soul mate in order to return to save his daughter from being used as a political pawn.

When Rance meets Tess, he's convinced she is his salvation, but a medieval knight in modern day England stands out rather oddly. He must convince her, regardless of the consequences, to return to the stone circle with him.

The author has put a lot of work into this novel. The plots and subplots weave together well and the stakes for all parties are high. Each of the characters has too much at stake to compromise, and yet the reader arrives at happily ever after. I struggled in the first chapter, Not understanding who Rance was with, and that kind of stuck with me throughout the story. I figured it out later on, but initially, it was just confusing. And the mystery about Matthias and Carrie was not explained. Evidently they'd been through the stones, but we never find out why and how. Maybe they will get their own story. There wasn't anything really wrong or bad about this story, it just didn't resonate with me. I never really got to like Rance.

My interest piqued when Cora, owner of a bordello, gun in hand kills the sheriff, Bill Sidlow, who apparently deserved to be stopped, but to be killed? Cora, a kindly woman, fiercely protective of her girls finds herself waiting for the axe to fall–someone to find out she’s the one who did the sheriff in.

To make it all worse, the newly hired sheriff, Kit Wainwright, was too good lookin’ a man for Cora to stay clear of. Cora, having been treated badly as a young girl, vowed not to share a bed with any man. But there was something special about Kit. Would he learn of what she did?

Kit Wainwright, even though made sheriff, he knew better. He just knew how to shoot, didn’t always do the right thing. He wasn’t good enough for the lady he saw in Cora. How can he offer her anything but his kisses and a good time between the sheets? Hot and steaming scenes will surely wish you had a handsome cowboy to woo you!

The women of the West were not fragile women, many had sour beginnings for men, whether good and honorable or not, ruled the land. They were caught in webs not of their own making. Women lived by their intelligence, wit and fear. Men made the rules, found many guilty, even if innocent. Some of the ‘good folk’ of a town had vendettas of their own, penalizing those who got in their way. Even though there were jails, judges, deputies, sheriffs, these didn’t keep citizens safe.

It’s been a while since I’ve read western. Ms. Jones created a great story highlighting the life of a women not attached to a man. If they were left to their own devices, they very well ended up in a bordello. Fort McNamara, small as it was in the Arkansas River Valley, had quite a few bordellos with men who enjoyed their time there during the evening, but scorned its very existence during the day.

I enjoyed this read and look forward to more of what Sandra Jones writes, whether western or fantasy which I had previously enjoyed.

Audrey Channing writes travel reviews for OutOnALimb.com. She speaks some Italian and is fluent in French. She is currently working in Greece but has no luggage but her carry on. Luckily she has her photographer and friend with her.

Stephon Diakos is the owner where Audrey is staying, The Villas Della Luna. His father owns the restaurant in town, The Constantina. He has been trying to keep visitors away from his hotel and has been successful until Audrey showed up. Stephon and a few other men are under a curse that turns them into hairy beasts at the full moon.

Audrey and her friend are in the restaurant trying to figure what they should do next when food and wine are brought to their table. Audrey thinks it is because they must have found out who she is and they are trying to impress her so she writes a good review. It isn’t the owner but the son that ordered it. Stephon wants to send the woman away but once he gets a look at Audrey, he thinks that one night can satisfy him. Audrey has no idea about the curse that affects the town. She doesn’t know that sleeping with Stephon can curse her as well. Stephon must decide if Audrey is worth killing for because his brother is after her and the only way to stop him is to kill him.

Midnight Cravings by Sandra Jones was an amazing read that grabbed you from the beginning and didn’t let you go until the very end. It was fast paced and adrenaline pumping. Stephon was a very giving lover and made sure that Audrey was satisfied all night long. He gave and never took anything for himself but got his pleasure from watching her. Audrey came out of a very bad relationship with a man that treated her as if she didn’t matter. She breaks out of that spell her ex fiancé put her in and becomes a woman that is more than deserving of someone to love.
