Well researched look at the filmography of the actor is somewhat lacking in a real narrative thrust, but it does manage to captures the life of the man. Some of the anecdotes are amusing and the reader does come away with a bit more understanding of who Scheider was. I found a few surprises, not only in some films of his I was not aware of but also in some details of his life, especially the strained relationship with his father and the actor's charity work. An updated edition to the book would be welcome as the book was published before Scheider's death and as such doesn't cover some of his last movies, like The Punisher. The chapter on Seaquest was of particular interest to me and covered the BTS problems quite well. A little more introduction for some film projects would have been nice, as well as shifting the DVD and video release information right after the coverage of the film itself rather then in the actual chronological order in which it was released would have made for smoother read. All in all, its well recommended to any fans of the late actor.… (més)
