Interesting story, enjoyable read to get a sense of the life in the late 1600's, especially those Huguenots fleeing France.
Disappointments: Story a bit unbelievable. It does not come across as giving an accurate picture of the faith of the Huguenots, e.g. why was the father not able comfort his daughter with the concept of forgiveness of sins by God? There is too many commas and other editing mistakes. Marc suddenly becomes Mark towards the end of the book, and then back to Marc. Caricatures of foreign accents is demeaning; why was this necessary, especially that of the Chinese miscommunication of English?… (més)
