- Joshua Keil started writing as a thirteen-year-old boy during a move across the country to Alaska. Inspired by the writings of Jack London, he soon found himself living a life reminiscent of that author’s tales of the North. Joshua spent his youth watching sled dog races, riding his horse, Duke, in the mountains, and fly-fishing with his brothers. He has worked on salmon boats in Bristol Bay, labored for the Alaska Railroad, and sailed with the Navy for seven years. While a student at the University of Nebraska he earned a living as an EMT during the heated political battle over the 911 ambulance contract in Lincoln.

I really connected with the narrator. I think, those of us who have reached the narrator's age, all have past histories with regrets and tragedies that have affected who we are today. It was refreshing to see it written with such care and thoughtfulness.
The nature scenes are also very well written, and lend you to visualizing them easily.
All in all, an excellent book. I look forward to reading more of this author.… (més)
