This book is a good (but not great) summary of the history of the SEALs (and predecessors, the UDTs, up to the Gulf War/Grenada/Panama. It seems consistent with what I've learned elsewhere, and was clear/well written, and included some interesting stories of missions as well as more generalized descriptions of organization, equipment, and doctrine.

A short focused book covering the North African campaign in 1941-41, from the landing in Morocco to the success against Rommel's tanks and troops. My father was one of the 168th Infantry, 34th Division soldiers who ended up in POW camp for the war and it was interesting to understand the background of that, how the battles were fought and how the US Army gained necessary experience to enable it to move forward.
