Faith Yingling Knoop

This is an excellent book within this series of world explorers. Knoop chronicles the steps Hillary took to achieve not only the ascent of Mt. Everest, but also greatness in other areas of his life as well. For the most part, Knoop limits her text to facts and actual words of her subject. There is little fictionalizing of missing details. Of course, Mt. Everest is given lengthy treatment (for a children's book) of Mt. Everest, distilling details that are of interest to children. Illustrations are nondescript but not distracting.… (més)
