Yūki Kodama

Y'know, I'd normally dislike characters like Fuyumi because they don't have a lot of personality or much purpose other than to move a certain plot point along, but I really like her for whatever reason. She's so cute and polite while surrounded by all of these demons, and just goes with the flow. She gets embarrassed and nervous and is easily thrown into danger, but looks out for her friends even though she's weak power-wise. I guess she's just the "normal" person in the group, and it actually works well in her favor in this case.

This time around, we learn a bit more about Akim and his plans for demon world domination, and we also get a training sequence, which is something I'd been expecting earlier. Crazy strong old man training the young heroes and such. We see more development in the characters and their relationships with each other, and a few revelations are starting to come to light.

I just like this series more and more as it goes along. It's predominantly action and humor, but the touching parts, while not occurring often, serve to give the characters depth. It's hard not to like the majority of the cast, both major and minor.… (més)

This volume was crazy good! In the last volume, there was finally some development in the romance department, and this time, the action went all-out.

We've got redemption stories, an impossibly strong "boss," body-snatching (to a new degree), and a ton of character growth. There was the usual humor, but this volume had a slightly more serious tone than previous ones because of how dire things are getting.

The next volume is technically considered omnibus 9, but I'm pretty sure it's just one volume based on size (I have it but didn't want to peek and ruin anything). I can't wait to see how everything turns out. And then on to the Bloody Brat books!… (més)

A great end to an amazing series!

They pulled a cliche toward the end that I saw coming from the beginning, but things still ended on a funny/sweet note, so I'm okay with it, mostly.

Fuyumi gained so much character in the last few volumes. It was really cool to see her grow up and start speaking up for herself.

I've enjoyed the hell out of this series. Tons of references to other anime and manga, great characters, character growth, redemption stories, rivalries, touches of romance--it really did have everything, and it was done well.

I found the entire anime series for cheap, but I've been waiting until I finished the manga to watch it. Now I can do that!… (més)
