Alvin Boyd Kuhn (1880–1963)

As the introduction explains, this book was written as one of a series of books on American religious life, so this focuses on the history of theosophy in America, beginning with forerunners like Emerson's Transcendentalism and then going through Blavatsky, the faction fights after her death, and recent (as of 1930s) developments. As Kuhn says, it is difficult to describe much of this from an American point of view, as many of the important events took place outside America. This account seems to be sympathetic to Theosophy but basically factual.… (més)
