Jumper by Jeff LaFerney – This is a very strange book that includes time travel, teleportation, motorcycle riding, a pet grizzly bear, murderous corrupt politicians/heads of state, magical and nefarious creatures, and the Staff of Moses. Eighteen-year-old Hannah Carpenter and her family visit Jordan to see the Staff of Moses. When Hannah accidently gains possession of the Staff of Moses she is rescued from the vicious King of Jordan by motorcycle-riding Cole Flint, but her family is imprisoned in Jordan. Flint is the perfect champion for Hannah and he fights to try to keep her safe and rescue her family. This is a strange story that includes fantasy, but is also an interesting one. Hannah and Cole are appealing characters, and Cole is heroic as well. It is a good story that embraces time travel, a concept that fascinates me. It also provides lots of action and danger for Hannah and Cole. I liked this book.… (més)

An imaginative adventure-story that takes you to another place. It was brilliantly executed, easy to follow, and a joy to read. This was one of the few times where I was able to read a book that had clean language, no cursing-not having to cringe at all the J.C.'s and G.D.'s. I'm sorry, but I hate when the Lord's name is taken in vain in books and I have to read it. It just goes to show that all of that is unnecessary. This story was still highly enjoyable without all that. This is a book that can be enjoyed by people of all ages-guys or women. There is something for everyone.… (més)

A murder mystery: two murders including a feisty old ghost, Bosley - a womaniser and restless soul who move things around in the Fenton Hotel Tavern and Grille, who sings happily along with the performers and who hope someone can solve his murder.

That's where the father and son - detective team, Clay and Tanner Thomas, comes in when they also have to sort out another murder. They both have special abilities - really special, believe me, including communicating with ol' Bosley, read minds and basically do what has to be done to get this murder mystery on the road.

Meet Jasper, their midget lawyer, who would get sprayed by a skunk, 'accidently' lands on the female prosecutor's lap(which makes his day!) and has the ability to super-charge a certain cop to look like an overly-blown-up red balloon.

Poor six foot ten and overweight Sherman Septic Tankersley, the plumber, has his hands full with confined spaces, ghosts who open taps and switch off lights, metal steps that bends under his weight and have him captured by the handrails closing in on him. Life is not a good one for this giant. His temper is severely tested by his fright of ghosts and people who just do not understand him.

In the mix is also Zander Frauss, the neuroscientist ....need I say more?

Mix all these characters, and quite a few interesting ones more, with science, the paranormal, romance, intrigue, humor and excellent writing skills, and you get "Bulletproof" by Jeff LaFerney: a riveting, fast-moving who-dunnit that will keep you awake!

I feel so honored and happy to have met the characters and read this third book in this series. I will definitely read the other two as well. It will be shear bliss!

A very special thank you to Books4tomorrow and Jeff LaFerney!

A fabulous read!

I’ve been happily on a roll on reading some great stories, this one is no exception to it. I had a hard time putting this one down. Even though I’m not big on reading sports stories, this one kept my interest throughout the entire book.
Clay Thomas was a linebacker in high school and could manipulate minds. He had a run in during basketball and football from Jack Harding who was determined he was going to beat Clay. It didn’t work out his way. Years later, Clay was a math teacher and high school baseball coach and married to Jessie. They had a son named Tanner who had the same abilities as his dad but no one was privy to them, at least not yet.
Jessie wasn’t happy in her marriage. Something always seemed to be bothering her. She was meeting someone that no one knew about and was not a good person. Jack was determined to make Clay pay for all the years of making him look bad. But how was he going to be able to do it so it didn’t come back on him? Revenge would be sweet as far as he was concerned.
Mr. LaFerney did a wonderful job on this story and it was a privilege to read it.
