I was expecting one book, but received two, one is more for a child and one is for an adult. All I can say is they are wonderful for anyone that loves to fish. In the front there are different types of reels, live bait and artificial lures for casting and fly fishing. Then starts the pages where you can list who you went fishing with, where and the date, the temperature, wind, clouds, tide, moon phase, the water temperature, clarity, depth, waves, current and type. Below that is a place to write whether it was a lake, river, ocean etc., if you were in a boat, on a dock etc., etc. etc. Next is an End Of Day section to jot down what you caught, cooked and your thought on the day. The last section is where you can put a photo or drawing of your fish. This is repeated about 15 times(give or take a few). At the end of the book is a section with pictures of different kinds of fish, where they are found, how big they get and how much the can weigh, and a full description of what it looks like. Everyone I know loves these books. I would recommend them to anyone who loves to fish. In fact, I'm going to get two more since I have 3 little fisherkids and they all need their own Fishing Journal.… (més)

In August I reviewed the book “Wally the Walking Fish Meets Madison and Cooper. Gary Lamit has created a Fishing Journal to accompany this book I was very impressed with the journal. For someone who does a lot of fishing it is an invaluable tool. In this journal you can log the date, time (start and end), place you fished, who you fished with, the location, weather, tides, water and bug conditions. You can be specific about the type of water you fished in the type of equipment, bait, lures/flies you used. You can log the species, and details such as weight, size, color. Hints for cleaning and cooking. You can sketch the fish or write another journal entry and attach a photo. Other features that made this so alluring to me was the pictures of equipment in the front. My sister has always done a lot of fishing. I always thought a rod was a rod. Boy was I wrong. I never knew there were so many different types of lures out there. At the bottom of each journal page they have a fish and information about it. A great tool for identifying fish. I really enjoyed the information from the book. I know who I am passing this on to. I haven’t fished since my father passed away. My sister lives on a lake and fishes at least once a week. I know this will be of great value to her.… (més)

I have most of my fishing trips recorded on my GPS as waypoints, and along with this journal I'll have a good record of where I caught what, and what the weather was like instead of just those fishing stories. Besides it's not the size of the fish right? It's knowing where the fishing hole is, and whether bright lures worked on cloudy days or not. (Sometimes it seems to matter to the fish.) This is a nice way to keep track of all that information.
