No definite answer to the titular question, but the author lays out the Standard Model's limitations and failure to accommodate gravity, and the ongoing theoretical and experimental programs for solving these problems. A big portion of the book is *very* technical: non-experts in quantitative physics just won't be to follow the extensive and advanced math.
