Sobre l'autor

Nota de desambiguació:

(eng) Lieutenant Howard Payson was one of several pen names used for early 20th Century American juvenile series books published by Hurst. Most of these, including the Payson titles in a couple series are attributed to John H. Goldfrap, a newspaperman who did not write books under his own name. As "Lieutenant" (or an abbreviation thereof) is part of the pen name, it has been given here as the canonical name but I am willing to be persuaded otherwise for the good of LT. -- James Keeline

This book can be read on the web at "Project Gutenberg". The target audience by 2012 standards would be pre-teen. The writing style of the book is author narrative and story. The author does well to conjur up the scenes and provides a good level of description of the surroundings and characters. The language used can be gruff at times, but would have been common in 1913 at the time of writing. At 99 years old the book shows how much life has changed, but still holds a captivating audience.
