'Cricket Lexicon' falls somewhere between being a useful reference work and being a work of cricket comedy. The majority of entries are cricket 'slang', particularly the often-baffling utterances of commentators, but the definitions are largely composed of in-references that read like crossword clues. While this is quite entertaining for those already possessing a solid cricket vocabulary, it is a little frustrating when one finds oneself stumped by new terminology. This is certainly not a book for the beginner, as entries for basic terms like 'orthodox' and 'swing' will not be found.
