A lavishly illustrated account of the history and present day activities of the great London clubs, some dating back to the 17th Century. Redolent of more leisured times, where the aristocracy, military figures, politicians and more recently a wider society, including ladies, meet to eat, converse or simply read the papers in congenial surroundings. A lovely look beside the grand facades, a glimpse of a lifestyle to which I could easily adapt!
