Sobre l'autor

Walen Francis Lilly II was born in Manhattan, Montana on August 13, 1925. During World War II, he served in the Navy. After the war, he graduated from Montana State University and became a high school biology teacher. He stopped teaching only after his fly-fishing catalog business took off in the mostra'n més 1970s. He owned Bud Lilly's Trout Shop for more than 30 years. He sold the shop in 1982. He also was a guide on the Madison, Gallatin and Yellowstone rivers and an author. Until the early 1960s, he viewed trout as a reward to be eaten, not as a natural resource that could be depleted. He heard about catch and release and made it his cause. He created a catch-and-release club in his shop and worked to end Montana's practice of planting hatchery trout in rivers. His autobiography was entitled A Trout's Best Friend. He died from heart failure on January 4, 2017 at the age of 91. (Bowker Author Biography) mostra'n menys
