A pacy first person account of a small aspect of the UK's recent involvement in Afghanistan: how a force of Gurkhas held a district compound in the town of Now Zad, dealing with repeated attacks and harassment from Taliban fighters. ½A very readable, acronym filled account of a Gurkhas training and subsequent experiences in the siege of Now Zad, which was a particularly difficult seige in the Afghan War. Exciting and accessible, a very good introduction into the world of the Gurkhas and also of modern combat.
