This book is a wonderful start to fashion for young girls!
As an adult, this book was quite amusing. I did not know how to sew clothing, and I was definitely interested! This book is clearly aimed at a younger age group, but it is still informative and helpful for an adult who doesn't mind the book not being aimed directly at them.
Rachel Low begins with some inspiration quotes before she hops into tools and supplies that would be needed. She explains some of the basics and extras of the craft, in terms a pre-teen would definitely understand. Many terms are broken down and explained here in simple terms, but it is incredibly helpful for even an adult, novice sewer!
Basic hand and sewing machines are discussed only briefly, but it was definitely informative!
This book is aimed towards a girl making clothes for herself. I feel like a young pre-teen could possibly figure out how to use this book on their own, but they would need parental help (and some extra help from google just in case things went awry).
While the book is excellent at explaining the terms and the steps, the steps seem like they are actually much harder than explained. Someone who took a class in this might find this book a helpful reminder, but I definitely wouldn't try sewing on my own without a teacher guiding me through it.
The fashion design part of this book was definitely fun and could be done easily by the young readers.
Overall, it is an informative book that is written precisely for the group it's aimed at, but it seems like it would be much harder than explaiend.
Four out of five stars.
