A short, fast read story with well developed characters and plot. As a pianist myself, I was very interested in the story; and, although, I could predict the outcome, I still enjoyed the story to the very end.
If I hadn't been reading it so late at night, this would have been a real wallbanger. I don't want to give it too much time, so quickly I'll say: the dialog was incredibly modern and slangy - "Just go with it, Lila," in 1823? Really? - and there were so many holes in the plot it's a wonder the words didn't leak off the page. The couple went from not knowing each other, to a single kiss - okay, maybe two - straight to full on sex within a week, with nothing in between. The timeline was bad, and had our lovely heroine becoming convinced she was preggers about 5 days after that one night of, well, I won't say passion, but you get the idea, at which point she claimed to be 7 days late, meaning she was late before they had sex at all. And she was in his sister's house less than 24 hours before the sister came to the same conclusion.… (més)
Three really strange stories, especially the Donna Simpson - Simpson has written some fine full-length trad Regencies but this trio of tripe wasn't worth finishing, but I did start it as one of my 2011 Reading Challenges. Don't bother with this one.
