Review of the 1937 Newark Bears minor league baseball team, and the championship year it had. This seems like something of an amateur job, and not done by either a full-time baseball historian or a full-time writer. The writing style is all over the place, the book is riven with editorial glitches, and the presentation of the season is somewhat awkward, with a lack of key dates. While the player biographies are interesting, it does also make the narrative jump back and forth in a distracting manner. Some rare photographs, but most of them show the players' faces in shadow, which makes one wonder about the choices. Recommended only for very hard-core baseball fans or New Jersey historians.… (més)
