The three-star rating is supposed to mean "I Liked It". In this case, it means I liked half of it - the first half. After that it got a bit repetitive and lingered on points that I didn't find compelling. If McCain gets elected President today, I'd recommend you read this book (and probably his other for more of his biographical background). If not, then don't worry about it, because he'll just be the maverick senator from Arizona again.

Got this book from my mom from the CCHS library. Read in the spring of 2023 in our upstairs guest room of the Del Mar house. Quick easy read that gave a lot of insight on the McCain family I had no previous knowledge of. Especially enjoyed learning about the experiences and devoted service of his father and grandfather. I also learned a lot more about his time as a POW and the incredible struggles he went through. The book has an excellent title that ties in with the overall purpose of the book. Would recommend to anyone who wants to learn about Senator McCain.… (més)

This is John McCain's opinion on many issues that America is dealing with today. It is his swan song about various topics that he wants to let the reader are important him. I thought that chapter 6 was interesting, in this chapter he deals a little about immigration.

Militaristic with a view toward bolstering soldiers with soldier-stories.
Includes political subtext: war is an agreeable front-line action option to solve major political problems.
He is kind and understanding to non-soldier styles of bravery, but applies battle terms for all styles of courage.
Smoothly written, not halting.
