Justina didn't really care about going to Prom, until her best guy friend Ian convinced her to go with him. Ever since he wore that one shirt, she can't help but imagine how their first kiss would go. Justine has been in self-imposed non-kissing mode since that one party last summer which started all the rumors. But she knows if she's going to break her rule, Ian is the guy to do it with. Now only if she knew if he wanted to kiss her...

Right off the bat Prom day doesn't go well. Her dress is not good, her shoes are even worse. Her mom gets involved, she starts getting random stains on her dress immediately, Alison keeps trying to mack on Ian, Ian keeps disappearing.... and then she wakes up in a ditch the next morning, DITCHED!

This book was so Ehh for me. Just not what I was expecting at all. I LOVE books about prom and popularity and trying to get the guy to like you. LOVE that stuff when it's done right. This book just didn't get there for me at all.

So you have Justina who shows up at a convenience store in her prom dress and proceeds to tell the middle-aged clerk and another self-proclaimed Cougar the story of her night... stain by stain. Like these women care! And then not only do the women care, they totally relate and agree that kissing moves Heaven and Earth. KISSING! Maybe I'm just too old, but kissing is not a big deal.

Here's the good part: Justina goes on some crazy-amazing adventures during her prom night- and those I loved. The adventures were funny, silly, and the only part of the book I liked. There are these 2 stoner guys Mike and Mike and their dates who take Justina under their wing... and honestly I wish the book was about them! They were funny and endearing. I didn't like Justina... she's so dense, judgemental, and unlikable. In the end Ian DID ditch her... even if there is a reason, it's not good enough to leave your prom date and not let her know what you are doing. and like Justina didn't know Ian liked her... he basically tells her he does straight away so what's the mystery? The writing in this book isn't bad, it's the implausibility of the story that got me.

Sorry if this sounded awful, the book is totally read-able. It flows good and I think there is an audience out there for it. I think that audience is middle-grade though.

It's the first day of middle school for Trevor Jones and things are not going as he had hoped. His best friend, Libby, has told Trevor that she doesn't want to be friend, friends anymore, and he has no clue how to handle the bus thing. When he asks an eighth grader for help, which he knows he's not supposed to do, Marty just tells him to "chill." Things get worse when he gets to school and is tricked into going into the teachers' bathroom. The situation doesn't improve when he tries to adhere to Libby's deadline of getting a date for the first dance of the year prior to the end of the day and then goes to lunch an hour early. Trevor isn't sure he's going to make it to the second day of school.

The Epic Documentary of a Not-Yet-Epic Kid isn't exactly what I expected. Many of the troubles that Trevor has are typical first day problems for middle school students and are funny, but some are way over the top and make it seem like the author was reaching a bit too hard for humor. Trevor is described as a "worrier," which translates to extreme anxiety, but in the end, he handles it just about as well as anyone could. Other than Trevor, there isn't a lot of character development since most of the teachers and students are endowed with quirks rather than personalities. Overall, The Epic Documentary of a Not-Yet-Epic Kid would have been better if it had stayed a little closer to reality with more of a focus on the documentary.

Fifth-grader Allie is the principal's kid, and last year, she made the mistake of getting her friend Chloe into trouble - so now she's lost that friendship, and gained a reputation as a rat. At least Allie has the Afters - three other kids whose parents work at the school, and who hang out there after everyone else goes home. But what Allie really wants is to be normal, and all she needs is an opportunity to talk to Chloe, explain, and apologize.
Will she get the chance? And will she have to choose between being normal and her friendship with the Afters?

Ahhh! This book was just- wow! I know I say this in almost all my book reviews, but I truly do not know where to start.. Ditched- A Love Story was so frustrating and at times I really wanted to skip parts to get to the end! But, I can honestly say that could not and did not stop me from rating this one ***** ! Even when Ditched(...) Annoyed me the most, I couldn't put it down for longer than five minutes! I just couldn't!

Honestly, I haven't ever read a book like this before, and I probably never will.. And I'll probably never read this book again either, but yeah, overall It. Was. Amazing! Undoubtedly amazing. The more I read the more I had to read!

If I had to fault anything, it would be.. Well, I'm not sure. Maybe the slow-pace-ness? (Even though I'm pretty dang sure that's not a word.)

Again, I have to say Ah.Mah.Zingg !

Over and out, T x
