Ken Mochizuki was born in Seattle, Washington in 1954. He grew up in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of south Seattle. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1976 with a BA in Communications. Such a sad and difficult topic to explain to students but this book does such a wonderful job of taking on that challenge. It does it in a way that is accessible to children. Having the story from a child's perspective and then also adding in the layer of baseball makes it even more accessible to students.
