The bound collection of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat for September 1945, this volume is missing the first week. There are still some interesting tidbits here, including Tojo's attempted suicide, the first days of the rebellion in French Indochina against French rule (later to be called Viet Nam), and the first appearance of Brenda Starr's mysterious one-eyed man, Basil. It was a wretched strip even then, though. And the Americans are busy mopping up after the conclusion of WWII.

A collection of the "Weird Fantasy" science-fiction comic books from the 1950's. I think much of the art is by Wally Wood, and the final story is a comic-book telling of Ray Bradbury's "There Will Come Soft Rains". Kids loved these books during the '50's (parents hated 'em) - and I can see why.

This collection of classic adventure strips contains two western adventure strips by Fred Harman from 1939-1940, the mediocre "Red Ryder", a 1960 "Johnny Hazard" detective story from 1960 that isn't much to brag about, and a quite nice "Rip Kirby" story from 1956 by Alex Raymond that features his art at its best, and his writing is better than usual without the pathetically lovelorn Honey dogging Rip's trail.

A collection of mediocre, if earnest poems and stories from my alma mater's 1974 creative writing journal. Some of the artwork is pretty good, but here too there are some stinkers.
