I am VERY impressed.

I often dislike the version of m/m sports romance that resembles two train wrecks colliding. This one is not that kind, and thank goodness for that.

I also dislike the incidental backdrop kind of profession tucked in behind the romance. Hockey plays a big part in the lives of these characters, and it's obvious that the author is a hockey fan. There's some jargon here I don't recognize--a clear sign of that. Kudos, author.

The role therapy and other mental/physical care plays or played for these characters is both heartening and realistic, and I'm thrilled to see it. Every character in this novel is well-drawn and compelling. The plot takes long enough. The attraction is subtle, builds slowly, the awareness or lack of it is well-foreshadowed, the conflicts rise directly from everything. In other words, I love this novel and if a genie popped up offering wishes, I'd wish I could read it again for the first time. I am right now going to pre-order the next book.
