George C. Nash

I remembered this book from my schooldays, as our school library had a copy. I have just picked this up from a second-hand bookshop in their 50p dumpbin, and I find this copy also came from a school library. Did the LMS send out complimentary copies to all the senior schools in their area?

On re-reading this, I find the text excessively jingoistic in a way I would have expected of the First World War, not the Second; and the colour illustrations, from paintings by Norman Wilkinson, are mostly nowhere near as good as I remembered them. But all in all, this is a useful contemporary account of how the railways assisted the war effort.… (més)
