Follows to many characters that don’t add enough to the plot. Very long buildup for an ending summer up in less than one chapter.

This is my second attempt at reading Neggers' works, and while she is a competent writer and her plotlines have potential, there is something missing. In this case, the romance does not fully live up to expectations, and the stalker storyline is predictable.
To begin with, there is a significant imbalance in the amount of backstory for the heroine as compared to the hero. In contrast to Cozie, whose childhood and family life are well-detailed, there is very little information about Daniel other than his family's wealth and his dare-devil nature (which is not on display in the book).
Daniel and Cozie are both likable characters, but their attraction is not believable, and the fact that Daniel is lying about his identity puts a damper on the relationship.
In terms of the suspense, the identity of Cozie's stalker is obvious, and the motive is convoluted and non-sensical. There is also no sense of closure as readers do not learn what happened to the villain after they were caught.
Overall, this book confirms that Neggers is not the writer for me.… (més)

Gabriella Starr has left her rambling lifestyle with her orchid obsessed father to work as an MBA in a Boston firm run by brothers Joshua and Titus Reading. When her injured father and her best friend, Lizzie turn up in Boston, Gabriella is happy to see them, but also suspects that their visit may turn into trouble. After discovering that her bosses are having her followed by former police detective, Pete Darrow, who is being followed by his former partner and new D. A. Cameron Yeager, Gabriella turns to Cam in hopes of figuring out what is going on in her firm. As soon as Lizzie begins a relationship with Joshua Reading, Gabriella and Cam can't seem to get away from one another.
A Rare Chance is a ridiculously over the top drama that makes no sense, but still managed to maintain my interest right to the end. The characters in this story make absurd choices and seemingly unrelated plot lines are forced to connect in pointless ways. Even though Gabriella is the protagonist of the story, most of the problems she faces are dealing with things other people in the story have done. Overall, A Rare Chance is a farcical story that I regret reading.… (més)

This may be my favourite of the series. Loved Nora, loved the juggling act Bryon has to do, and the dialogue is fantastic.
