The Ritual: A Novel de Adam Nevill
It was a good horror book, and it was very well written. However, I believe watching the movie first kind of spoiled it for me, as I actually preferred the plot of the movie over that of the book. Regardless, the book is still very good on its own.
I so wanted this book to renew my faith in horror authors, but I think I may need to keep looking.
It had promise when it first started but, as I continued reading, I felt like I was trudging uphill in the mud. The storyline never really found its feet and, like me, kept trudging along. I couldn't invest in any of the characters, but kept reading to the end (I think it was the end, it was so inconclusive), hoping they would actually emerge into people I could cheer for.
The plotlinek had so much promise, but I felt that the Author lost the momentum he had when he started writing, and this is a shame.… (més)

I saw the movie that was based on this not too long ago, and I couldn't think past it, once the book got to part two I was just lost and kept getting confused.
I loved the writing style, the way this was written was very realistic and felt like this could happen at any time. I also loved the banter and camaraderie between the men in part 1.

I need to reread this, I stopped and started so many times, and read it after a crazy busy month and I think I would have loved it even more if I had read it in one or two days.
