Writing Workshop | Susan Palwick | Managing Point of View 1-2PM FRIDAY, MAY 17 Writing Workshop with Susan Palwick: Managing Point of View Writing point of view (POV) is equivalent to deciding camera angle in film. Are we seeing the action through the eyes of a specific character, or hovering overhead? How do different characters see, and interpret, events differently? How does POV help shape plot? Award-winning author Susan Palwick will guide writing workshop participants in discussion and exercises to explore this powerful aspect of fiction writing.

Literary Lunch | Susan Palwick | Mending the Moon NOON FRIDAY, MAY 17 Literary Lunch with Susan Palwick: Mending the Moon Enjoy lunch from Wildflower Bread Company while award-winning sci-fi/fantasy author Susan Palwick presents her new novel, Mending the Moon. Melinda Soto is murdered while on vacation in Mexico. Back in Reno, New Mexico, she leaves behind a close circle of friends and a complicated relationship with her adopted son, Jeremy, who can barely stand the rituals of remembrance that ensue. They are soon told by police who killed Melinda: a Seattle teenager who drowned himself just days later. Then the murderer's mother extends an invitation to them all to come to his memorial in Seattle. It's ridiculous. And yet, somehow, each of them begins to see in it a chance to heal, aided by Jeremy's years-long obsession with the comic-book hero Comrade Cosmos, and the immense cult of online commentary it's spawned.
