This short book, sized for small hands, is a perfect introduction for toddlers and preschoolers to environmental issues. In simple, easy-to-understand language, children are taught about the concept of limited natural resources. Furthermore, children are given examples of easy steps they themselves or their families can do to help reduce their use of those limited natural resources. These examples are directly connected to a positive consequence in nature. For instance, children are shown that “when I plant a tree … an owl gets a new home.”

The gently colored illustrations of young children helping out and animals frolicking about nature are sure to draw children into the book. And, the book itself is an example of friendly environmental practices as it is made from 98% recycled materials. This is an excellent book for parents or teachers of the very young to educate children about the environment, natural resources, scarcity, and how the choices we make affect these issues.
