Fascinating short stories. They remind me of mr. creepy pasta's stories. I especially enjoyed the first one, where the point of view you think you had changes, and leaves you in awe and makes you understand the same understanding the character does about right and wrong.
I received this free from Library Thing to read and review. If you enjoy reading the weird, this is the book for you. The authors have put together a selection of stories, none of which is very long but all of which touch on unusual things, to say the least. They are well written and contain great descriptions, though some of the stories are not easily followed and do not progress along traditional lines. These stories are not all that long, and can provide a quick way to read something quickly or to take up some slack while you are at an appointment or waiting for someone or something. I found the collection interesting, though not something I would normally choose for myself. I guess it takes a certain type reader to enjoy these stories. After reading the first one, which concerns a sin eater, who goes to funerals or cemeteries and eats sins of others so they can enter heaven, I realized this was not a normal collection of stories. Another story concerns a knife that has been given human-like qualities. Strange. If you are interested in these type of things or just intrigued (and many might be intrigued), this is for you. I’m not sure whether I want to continue with this type story or stick to the conventional murder mystery or romance. This definitely provided an interesting, different read.… (més)
This is a varied collection of short stories, ranging from fantasy to literary fiction. There's no central theme, which makes for significant variety. My favorite story in the anthology is the last one, a tale of a lonely elementary school librarian who projects her unfulfilled desires onto a friend's child. Other stories I found less fulfilling. This is a good collection for those who really enjoy the short story format, and who have broad interests.
