Folks who have an interest in the movers-and-shakers who have shaped Buffalo's contemporary history will love this tome by business mogul Bob Rich. Even though the sub-title might be interpreted otherwise, "The Right Angle" deals with far more than Western New York's obsession with sports. Rich provides a revealing peek behind the proverbial curtain that so often hides life's behind-the-scenes dramas. One vivid example involves the author's reflections on the now-disgraced Rigas family which once owned Adelphia and the Buffalo Sabres. "I've never seen or dealt with anyone like John and Tim Rigas," Rich writes. "I always felt that, on the occasions that you could get their attention, they'd look you right in the eye and lie." This tome is dotted with many insightful nuggets. There are even some words of wisdom from Bob Rich Sr., the entreprenur who founded Rich Products. "Old age is no place for sissies," the elder Rich is quoted as saying. It's probably true that many folks who have no ties to Western New York might not appreciate some of the back-stories contained in this book. But for folks who are passionate about all-things-Buffalo, this is a must-read. As the author wrote: "I am who I am, whoever that may be, because I was forged in Buffalo."… (més)
