Robert Rigby

This is the second book in the series but even though I have not read the first, I still understood what was going on by the end of the 2nd chapter. Set in occupied France, Paul is living with his friend Didier's family in a remote village.
Into the village one night parachute a troop of German special forces who the reader initially thinks are after Paul. But that is not the case, the head collaborator in the village has recognised a famous physicist who is on the run from the Nazis who want him to help build an atomic bomb, hiding out a remote farmhouse.
The Germans raid the house and kidnap the scientist's wife prompting Paul and his friends to revive the lying low Resistance movement to rescue her.
There are some great characters in Josette, the feisty French girl, the Basque farmer who fought in the Spanish civil war and knows how to make petrol bombs, and the farming twins who swap sides when the Nazis threaten the physicist's wife.
All in all a fast flowing action packed book that fans of Andy McNab and Robert Muchamore will like.… (més)
