The last and the best book of the Marco Polo trilogy. Tells the story of a mature Marco Polo, his relation with the great Khan and his return to Venice. It deepens the mysteries of the chinese secret society White Lotus and the its plots against the empire.
The adult Marco Polo is much more interesting character than his previous "versions". The problem now is his son, that is as annoying as (or even more annoying than) the young version of his father. He is extremely reckless and seems not to think about what he is doing, it irritated me as I was reading and thinking: "how can he be so dumb?". But ok, I will forgive him, cause he is one of the few weaknesses of the book, along with the one more time Marco Polo's "page consuming" love life. One weakness of the previous books of the series is corrected: the lack of action. This one brings new relevant stuff every other page.

The portuguese edition has a bunch of spelling / grammar errors, and should be revised as soon as possible.

This is the second book of the Marco Polo's trilogy. It tells the life of Marco Polo serving the great Khan and exploring his empire, mainly the south-east Asia.
Now the young adult Marco Polo has grown, but he shows an insecurity, that is incompatible to all the things he has experienced. Anyway, the character gets a lot better than the first book.
The lack of action and excessive love acts are still present. but the plot gets more interesting with missions given by the emperor (there are even some very good, but fast, war scenes) and new and mysterious characters.
The portuguese edition have a few typing / spelling errors, and it should be revised.

This is the first book of the Marco Polo's trilogy. The life of the famous traveller and merchant is told from his youth in Venice till his first trip through Asia to meet the great Khan.
The story lack a bit of action, despite the author's efforts. It focus on the landscapes and culture / habits of the countries that are crossed (which is really interesting), but few really relevant things happen (the last part gets a little better).
Another part of the book is used to detail Marco Polo's love life, and those are the most boring acts of it. It tries to be sensual, but it is overdone, and takes too long.
The young Marco Polo is obnoxious and inconstant, but he evolves a lot along the book. The dynamic between the characters is very interesting, they are well developed and captivate the reader.
