Full of colour, each page tackles a different characteristic of ASD while relating them to animals in the zoo. Positive and upbeat.
Although not specifically written for children with autism spectrum disorders, this book is very relevant for them, to help them make and keep friends. It is written for children aged 7-11 years of age and can be used one-to-one, in small groups or with a whole class. There are numerous activities for the child to complete and it is divided into five themes, each building upon the other.
Offers an introduction for the grandparent of a child diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. Intended as a support tool in the initial period after diagnosis, the book addresses questions or concerns that grandparents might have, such as 'What are the characteristics of Asperger syndrome?', 'How did my grandchild get Asperger syndrome?' and 'What happens now?'. Also included are poems, stories, illustrations and activities to help grandparents come to terms with and move forward from a diagnosis of Asperger syndrome, and work together with the family to support the child.… (més)
