Indian kitsch: The use and misuse of Indian images de Fritz Scholder
Neither the imager nor the reproduction is elegant here, but point of the work, taken seriously and generalized to other subjects is instructive. Normally working in other medium, Scholder uses photography here to creatively indicate the uncreative use of visual themes for a popular, singular subject. The result is both a state of visual caution and an inspiration to see more carefully the other Kitsch that surrounds us.
