Charles Seems

I received Gay et passionné by Charles Seems through the Early Reviewer list from Library Thing.
I greatly appreciated the opportunity to read this book. Charles Seems is candid as he talks about his life growing up in a small town where everyone knows everybody’s business. He knew early on that he was not like the other boys. And as he grew older he learned the importance of discretion, of protecting himself. While it is a very personal story, Charles reminds us all of the sad times when HIV/AIDS was a threat to all, especially those in the gay community. He speaks of traveling and making close friends along the way. He is always searching for the right person, and when they eventually do meet, they still need to prove themselves to other family members. He takes us into his work world where he discovers his leadership and managerial skills, and builds a successful career. Reading Gay et passionné is similar to meeting a long lost friend, and are happy to catch up with his news.… (més)
