Violet Selborne

This is supposed to be a middle grade book, but it seemed very long for that age group to me.

I thought the early chapters were mostly background information and could have been deleted quite easily, with the pertinent information added in narrative in other areas of the book without the story losing anything.

I liked the friendships the girls developed with their other four roommates and with Estelle, but I wish there didn't always have to be the stuck up, mean girl character in these types of books (which here comes in the form of Mary).

This was supposed to be a mystery, but I didn't find it very mysterious. There was a problem to solve, but not much suspense in doing it. In fact, if it hadn't been for the friendship aspect, I'd probably have rated this book lower than 3 stars, but the friendship aspect redeemed it for me.… (més)
