An interesting collection of slang words and dublinisms. It is an excellent introduction to English as she is spoken in Ireland. It does meander all over the place, but is an interesting look at how history changed language and how word use has changed and modified over time.

One of the most interesting segments is:
"Typical is the anecdote of the Dub recounting ad nauseam to a captive pub audience the events of his day, each noun preceded by F**kin' and several other parts of speech intersected with the same adjective. Finally, 'and then what happened?' from a sufferer anxious to call a halt to the tedious narrative. 'What happened?' sez your man: 'What happened was I went hom to the wife and we had sexual intercourse.' This illustrates the observable fact that the Dublin use of 'fuck' and its derivatives - F**kin' in particular = generally carries no direct reference to the sexual act and is employed irrespective of audience, male or female, young or old."… (més)
