J. Kevin Sheehan

I was browsing books for gift ideas, and looked at LT’s Zeitgeist to see the top-rated books here. On the Overview page as of then, A Leader Becomes a Leader by J. Kevin Sheehan was #1 with a 4.99 based on 43 ratings. Wow, what a terrific book it must be! Yet it seemed weird that there was not even one review posted.

So I looked at amazon, where the book had 15 reviews, all 5-star and interesting enough that I wanted to take a look at a copy. But while shopping later (at 2 Borders and 2 B&Ns), not a single store had even one copy. I came home and checked my library system and there’s not a copy of this apparently outstanding book in my entire suburban-Chicago consortium!

Sucker!! The book was pubbed Sept 25, 2007. Upon peeking beneath the surface stats, I see that most of the amazon reviews were posted in November 2007, and 14 of the 15 reviewers have reviewed only that product; the other has posted two reviews. Then I checked the libraries of about ten of the 43 LT members, and all have 6 or fewer books, all have rated only this book, and all joined LT on October 24, 2008.

It may be a terrific book; I wish I could get a look at a copy. But the ratings here appear to be spam.… (més)

This book is about a Leaders written about a man riding a horse in 1845; at which point he talks about philosophies of seminal leaders in the century such as Gandhi, and Martin Luther King Jr. This book answers the question is there a spirit to leadership? This book tells about Leaders that becomes a Leader: This books tells about how the human capacities that ''often go underestimated or unrecognized when people settle for less.''
