I have had this book for several months and put off reading it because the description used the word "paranormal". That genre usually isn't in my area of interest, even reading widely, as I've tried to do more often recently. However, if you are a interested in the paranormal this may not be the book for you. That aspect isn't the focus of this book. It's really a light romance with that as a sideline characteristic.

This book struck me as having been written by a young or new author. The writing and character development seemed immature and as if it was trying to find itself. The main female character is entertaining and likable, as was her love interest. **SPOILER** A key element was his service in Vietnam and the PTSD he suffered upon return. That whole area was very weak and lacked detail enough to make it really convincing. It would have been much more credible and interesting to me had the author fleshed this out.

All in all, it was a quick, light read.

I received a copy from LibraryThing for an honest review. At first, I wasn't sure if the storyline would be interesting or how the 'gift' would relate to the forget me not title. However, after the first chapter, I was intrigued and grew to really enjoy and understand the characters and their gifts. Evelyn is matched with another who has the gift too but initially she resists Rex. At time goes by she realizes that he is a really good match for her and her love is put to the test with the war.By the end of the book, I was a fan. This is a true credit to the author to make a fan out of a reader; well done.… (més)

I received a free copy of this book from the Librarything Early Reviewers program in exchange for an honest review.

The first line of the book compares a man's butt to a ripe apricot. Obviously, my first impression was that this was going to be a fluffy romance book (which I typically avoid). Then, magical elements and supernatural gifts were introduced and I had to go back and re-read the synopsis to remember why I had chosen this book. I didn't have to read too far before some pretty serious topics began to emerge. Something about the magical realism and the Vietnam war just didn't set well with me. The light and fluffy intermingled with the dark and serious just felt a bit awkward and I put the book down several times before actually finishing. The saving grace was that the writing was good and the characters were interesting enough that I didn't give up completely. Once Rex returned home from the War, the story shifted for me and I really enjoyed the ending.… (més)

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. The story line and characters are so engaging and Em's writing style enchants you with flowing descriptive narratives and paints the surrounding landscape in a way that was both magical and eerie at the same time.
This was not my typical genre but I really found myself on the edge of my seat to see what twist and turn was coming up next. I found myself, gasping, cheering, laughing and crying the whole time and was sad to see the story end. I hope there is more in store for these characters.

This one is going on my favorites list and I plan on telling everyone I know to read this book.

Cheers to a great book... pick this one up and give it a try!

Happy reading.
