What I think you should know:
A Dream for Harper is the third book in the Willow Wood Brides series by Teresa Slack. It is Christian Historical Fiction set in 1890 in what will become Idaho. This book is set after the previous books and gives small updates about the characters in the previous books. You do not have to have read the prior books, but they do give you an understanding of the town and some of its residents.

What I think about this book:
Each of the previous books had action and adventure, but they were much more lighthearted than this story. This story contained more of a mystery element. Harper has moved west to be a companion to her cousin Ellie, but finds that not all situations are as they appear. I loved Harper and seeing her view of her new life. Logan was also an intriguing character. I appreciated his devotion to his friend and his determination to keep his promise to him. I enjoyed this story more than any that I have so far in the series and look forward to the next book in the series.

I received a complimentary copy for this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

What would you do if you were asked to give up everything and travel to a place far from home? How would you feel if you knew you were going to a relative’s house you don’t know? Could you trust God as you try to help someone who needs a friend? Harper finds herself doing just that in this adventure filled with danger, intrigue, forgiveness and trust.
It was easy to like Harper because she has such a giving heart. It was hard for her to leave her family but she went because her mother hoped she would have a better life. Willow Wood sounds like such a charming little town. It was starting to blossom and Harper was a little excited and nervous when she arrived. I liked Logan and his charm. Of course he has his doubts about Harper when he sees her. Judging her by her clothes he figured she was there to take advantage of her wealthy relatives. Their relationship was fun to read and I loved how they seemed to irritate each other.
Harper and Ellie don’t quite hit it off at first, but Harper has this way about her that draws people to her. Ellie is suffering from depression due to the love of her life disappearing on her. I wanted Ellie to realize how loved she was by others and know that God was taking care of her. He is the only one that can mend her broken heart.
Ellie’s dad is mean, judgmental and prideful. He says he has his daughters best interest at heart, but deep down his “love of money” will be his downfall. The author does an excellent job of taking us through the ups and downs Harper experiences trying to reach Ellie. The story is emotional at times and surprised me with several twists in the story. I wasn’t prepared for the ending , but it is written in a way that showed how greed can destroy a person. I have read the other books in this series and each one brings hope, forgiveness and a lesson in trust and unconditional love. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

'She knew what she'd miss if she left home, while she had no idea what she'd miss if she stayed.'

With these thoughts, Harper Dixon reluctantly leaves her Kentucky home for a new life, with relatives that she's never met, in a place called Willow Wood, Idaho. She soon discovers a world of wealth and privilege that she never imagined but it is also a life where joy and happiness seem elusive. The closeness that she had always enjoyed with her own family is missing in the home of her cousin Hugh Lundy and his daughter Ellie and it appears that Harper might not be successful in helping Ellie overcome her depression. Is there more to Ellie's sadness than grief over being jilted by the man she loved?

A Dream for Harper has colorful characters and several intriguing plot twists, including a mystery concerning Ellie's former beau Matthew and the growing attraction that Harper feels for the Lundy's hired hand, Logan Kinski. There is also a shocking occurrence that I never saw coming! Will Harper remain in Willow Wood to help her cousins or will she return to Kentucky and the family that she misses so much?

Author Teresa Slack has written an enjoyable historical Christian romance and I look forward to the next book in the Willow Wood Brides series.

I received a digital copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. These are my own opinions.

A Dream for Harper, by Teresa Slack, is book 3 in the Willow Woods Bride series. It is a very well written historical fiction story of a young lady that is sent to help care for a relative in another state. Harper leaves her home and family in Kentucky and goes to Idaho to care for her cousin Ellie. Harper's family is a very close hardworking family that struggles to make ends meet. While Ellie's father is a very wealthy business owner who leaves his daughter alone with the household staff. Ellie has recently suffered great loss and has withdrawn. Harper does not know what to do about the situation until she is involved in one of Ellie's doctor appointments. After that she and Ellie become friends as Ellie mends from what has happened.

This story also has a bit of mystery mixed in with it. Harper and Logan, a hired hand, start investigating the situation. While doing, so their friendship deepens.

I really enjoyed reading this story. Even though it is part of a series, it is a very good stand alone story. It is well written with twists and turns. The story is well written, without a lot of main characters so it is easy to follow. It is easy to imagine what is happening and envision the surroundings. This is one of those stories that reinforces the fact that money does not buy happiness, instead it can carry many burdens.

I received a copy of this e-book from Celebrate Lit. This is my honest review.
